National Standard Examination in Physics abbreviated as NSEP conducted every year since 1987, by Indian Association of Physics Teacher (IAPT) has become the most visible activity. More than 40,000 students participate from around 1200 centers, many come from a metropolitan city where few comes from small towns and villages. It is a golden opportunity to measure one’s understanding of the subject against national standards. Students are allowed to take away the question paper and solutions are provided to them after a week. The examination is conducted in English, Hindi and a few other Indian languages. Gold medalists in NSEP can directly join DAE through an interview without appearing in the entrance examination, after completing their studies. Besides this, the organization has promised scholarships to encourage the active participation of students. The scholarship is applicable to only those who pursue B.Sc with Physics. NSEP is the most difficult competitive examination on the higher school level on the basis of standardized questions set by IAPT. The exam takes place in the month of November every year. Questions are generally on the grounds of the Indian Educational framework of NCERT Physics, but concepts that have been asked range vastly from XI to B.Sc Physics Honors Courses.
NSEP preparation is different than other competitive exam preparations, as it demands one’s solo devotion, coaching doesn’t help in a great way, a mentor can be indeed helpful in guiding the way to prepare for NSEP. NSEP preparation 2019 requires the following steps;

Preparation must be done is a priority, primarily prioritize the topics that have been asked again and then complete the topics that have been less frequently asked. The Jackpot thing in such examinations in “trick”, one should master all the tricks before sitting for the examinations.
Maintain a formula sheet of every subtopic. It is indeed necessary to keep all formulas, theorems, and axioms in your mind as the questions that are asked are the way too tricky, you can’t imagine yourself deriving a formula, you have to fight with the time as well, the only solution to this problem is keeping a list of all formulas that you learn.
