CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) is a national level board for public and private schools in India. It is managed by the Union Government of India. This board has asked the schools to follow the NCERT curriculum. The progressive nature of the board expanded its reach out of India as well. It has an affiliation with 211 schools in 28 foreign countries like Japan, UAE, Iran and many more.
CBSE conducts final exams for class 10 and class 12 every year. The examinations are held in the month of March and the results are out in the month of May. CBSE also organizes the examination for All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) for the students seeking admission in medical colleges.
CBSE also conducts the National Eligibility Test for grant of junior research fellowship and eligibility for assistant lecturers in universities and colleges. Central teacher eligibility test and Class X optional proficiency test is also organized by CBSE. By now, CBSE is the largest examination body in India.
Major role in Class 10 and Class 12
For the promotion of a student from Class 10 to the next standard, CBSE organizes an examination, passing that a student gets promoted. In case a student fails in a subject or two can take up the compartment exam in July to get promoted. For those students who fail in the compartment exam, three or more subjects need to repeat the session and sit again for the exam next year.
In the case of class 12, students pass a subject with 33% in practice and theory both. If a student fails in one subject, s/he is allowed to give compartment exam in July. The students who fail in the compartment examination or more than one subject need to repeat the class.
